man, the dealer screwed my original order completely. i cancelled my order after waiting 26 weeks with no build in sight, but the dealer wanted to get the car anyways for stock. in march, they were given a last chance to edit the order before it gets built. well they did. they said the added windows to it and couldn't remember what else they changed.

the HHR came in nothing like my order other than it's a black SS. they deleted all of my options, but added the auto trans. gone are the brembos, RPD, 5-speed, posi differenctial, 7 speaker system. replaced by a window version with only the automatic trans.

they said they wanted something that would sell. i guess nobody thinks pure performance like me. lets see how quick it sells now? they've have a blue window SS since early october that hasn't sold yet.

even though i already bought a new challenger, i was still thinking about buying the HHR too. not any more.

You should see about a Panel, I haven't had this much fun in a long time and GM has now made it a true Limited Edtion since they won't be building them anymore.
I also am in to pure performance just like you which makes it nice since most don't (Dealers that is) have a clue on how to order a vehicle that will make the public want it, I mean roof racks on an SS for one what's that all about.

Hurst. Go figure. I don't know what makes these dealers tick.

I opted for a pre-owned to save some money, but I too am one who is one of the silent majority looking for less luxury and more raw performance. It took me almost 6 mos to find a used one with the options that supposedly "wouldn't sell".

(I found a black 08 with manual trans and limited slip, all of which were mandatory for my purchase).

If I found a car the way your dealer set it up, I would have bypassed it and kept on looking.

 

We should run a pole on the number of SS autos vs manuals. I wouldn't have bought an SS if it wasn't available with a manual transmission but I suspect (and agree with the dealer) the automatic is probably a more popular choice. As is the window version rather than the 2 seater panel, but again it was the panel that attracted me to the car.
