Painting Rear Brake Rotors.
Painting Rear Brake Rotors.
When my HHR SS came, I noticed that the front brake rotors were completely painted (except for the surfaces where the pads run) with a flat light gray paint. The rear rotors are not painted and soon develop a rusty appearance. If the wheels are such that the brakes are fully exposed, as the SS is, it's nice to have them look sharp.
I was recently looking at a new Sky Red Line and I noticed that both the front and rear rotors are painted flat light gray.
Q : Has anyone addressed this problem and found a high temperature paint that matches the front rotors ?

Put the car up on jacks and remove all 4 wheels. Get it up high enough so you don't have to disconect the calipers from the car. You can usually crawl around enough to get all the caliper surface. Use the cleaner liberally, and get a toothbrush to scrub the areas that need it. Mask with tape on exposed pads, rotors, and clips that are real close to the caliper. Paint 2 coats on and your good to go!
This is a good time to inspect the springs, shocks, tie-rods, exhaust, fuel line, etc to make sure that everything is properly aligned and secured.
