planning on getting the SS dynoed (again) soon but need some input on prep
so a bit of back story. the car's an auto. a couple years ago there was a local dyno event and i wanted to see how much hp the car had at the time. the dyno was a 2wd setup. got the car strapped down and held the TCC button for 10 seconds to disable it. got the car rolling and when the tech started the dyno and went WOT, anytime it went up to 5K it would splutter like it was hitting fuel cut and wont go any further. the graph was all up and down and obviously inaccurate. the tech tried a couple more times but still same thing. it drove fine on the street. someone had mentioned it was due to the pcm sensing no movement from the rear tires was what was causing the issue. is there a fuse(s) that i need to remove too?
Does your HHR rev past 5K on the road?
I’ve had several of my race cars dyno’d but never my street rides.
I don’t think the ABS system is that complex, but try unplugging the hubs while on the dyno.
There is a limiter when in neutral, it might be tied to load. And if the rear wheels are not rolling the ABS thinks something is very wrong. I never heard of holding the button for 10 seconds, just pushing it should do it. Maybe that is "launch" mode, that doesn't exactly turn the ETC off it allows you to go WOT with your foot on the brake (not the same as rear wheel stopped) and then shift smoothly. Otherwise, the trans would slam gears wildly. You can't turn ABS off.
The SS auto has 3 TC modes; on, competitive (off) and launch. I am not a SS expert and might be totally wrong.
ABS, ESC and TCS are different combinations of systems
Sounds like you may have had it in Comp mode. If in Comp mode it may have triggered the Launch function which enables the rev limiter.
I know the stock rev limiter setting is somewhere around 4-4500 rpm’s.
If you have a tune, yours may be set higher for Launch mode.
