Probably the dumbest idea ever but.....

First let me say, I live my SS, all 116791 miles of it. I had an idea however, half fueled by thinking too much, caffeine, and getting enjoyment from making people scratch their heads. On to it.

I have a 2010 SS, I was curious.... Could a lift and a suspension job make this thing into a fun little trail runner? I was thinking no more than 4 inches(that's what she said) to increase ground clearance with the 18" tires I'd like on it. I know there's fender work I'd have to do, as well as a ton of under the frame work but all that aside, would it work? I saw a Rally Fighter at work the other day and then looked at my car and thought, "dream on little buddy....ok fine, I'll ask the folks that know things."

There are lift spacers for the front struts but the rear would involve taller rear springs or custom spacers, that would require longer rear shocks and brake hoses, but then again there are air bag kits

the rear axle will cause problems for the tires lining up to the wheel openings

And don't forget, taller tires will rub on the lower front spring perch. 26.2" or 26.3" is the maximum tire height.

And raising the center of gravity by much is dangerous.

It will be a “What was I thinking???” moment as they roll your SS back in it’s wheels, you’re better off selling it, or keeping it for asphalt use and buying a 4x4 for the pre runner off road fun!

Unibody and off road trail riding are usually not a good mix.

Thanks all. I figured it would be a bit out of the realm of sanity. On to my next bad idea.
