Problems with HHR SS 2008

My cooling fan module went out causing my fan to run all the time making my battery go dead. OOPS! No parts for the new HHR SS. 2 weeks later now guess what no part. But, here is the fun part, I had the car one day had to be towed due to dead battery and key stuck in ignition. Gets better trust me ! Called GM roadside service to have it towed to the Dealer, 70 miles on her. I asked for a flat bed tow truck after a 4.5 hour wait on a hot Monday night it arrived. The wrecker driver proceeds to drag the HHR onto the flatbed truck with a cable tearing the rear fascia. Still more fun, I asked how do you get it off the truck if it wont roll. His answer was bounce it off, to which he did cracking the front fascia this time and cracking the grill. Also GM Roadside service sent me Eagle Towing out of Wellston, dont use them. GM then tells me the only listing in st louis to take my HHR is Chris Affotenburg Chevrolet, I said I bought it at Don Brown on the Hill. Nope no listing of other chevy dealers in st louis she was very sorry. However, the driver has a tad more sense and took it to Don Brown Chevrolet for me at no charge...I still have no HHR SS but, 2 new painted fascias front and rear and a new front grill. And you guessed it no engine cooling fan module. The dealer now tell me going into the 3rd week of not having my car they may take the module off a HHR SS on their lot so I can drive my 1 day old car they had for 3 weeks. Well maybe next tuesday or wednesday....but we will see. I am paying for something I don't even have. I did ask for paint sealant package for my trouble, no answer. Ordered HHR splash guards for it to the tune of 130.00 in stalled (4) also not yet done. They tell me the key stuck in the ignition is due to the cooling fan module. I believe the shift needs replacing and the key is hard to get in and out of the lock cylinder is bad also, but they say no. One other thing my outside temp gauge stays at 87 degrees for 24-7 never moves, and you guessed it caused by the cooling fan module. I think not, but hey they are the dealers right ?
They also wont tell me if there are any TSB's or Re-Calls on my vehicle...I should have kept my Corvette Convertible.
Any help or suggestion fellow club memebers ?

That sucks man . My SS has been perfectly fine, minus a couple exterior defects (pin stripe and clear coat on wheel).

the dealer bills GM for thier time and parts. what rental did you get. start talking to the sales guy that sold you. he has all day to do your pestering.
ask what happens if word gets out about how things are going down.
tell them if they dont hear from you its because your spreading the word.

it took them 4 tries to figure out bolts were loose on my cab that mounts to the chasis causing the thing to rock over bumps on my S-10

its a just job for them. they dont love your car. just ask the tow driver.
doesnt gm have a 30 day return policy

Every time I hear horror stories like this it makes me think twice about buying the SS. But most of the time it is the poor dealerships that make the initial problem much worse.

The SS had been out many months now - why do they not have replacement parts??

I guess I'm one of the "lucky" ones too. Other than a bad temp sensor and boost guage mine has been flawless also.

Sorry bro, I'm hearing to many of these horror storys.
I am one of the lucky ones (so far, 5400 miles). But chevy has to do something if there selling rides that need numerous fixes right off the bat.
Step 1 would be to have the parts to make the repairs.
step 2 would be a couple of recalls, so were all not waiting in line for parts when ours goes. (just my 2 cents worth.)

there's two ways to break in a car

if your gonna drive it like an old lady, baby it.

if your gonna drive it like you stole it, beat the pis_ out of it,
to find those weak links early.

good luck, it really gives GM a bad name to read this type of stuff on a daily basis about the SS

I would make them order you a new 2009 SS for the same price with no charge for the rental until you get the 2009 SS.
