Puttin' her away for the winter...

Well, it was a sad day but I think I'll get over it... eventually!

We started looking at how much we drive the SS and the other 3 vehicles and Vicki just seemed like the most logical ride to put away for the rest of the winter. If I can save the most in insurance payments and keep the brutal WI Winter miles off of her it will be worth not having the joy of throttling up that turbo once in a while. It seemed like I really didn't enjoy driving it in winter nearly as much either, always having the traction control kickin' in and getting it filthy dirty. (I can't stand driving a dirty car!) I'll have to say I sure won't miss that stupid cold-weather bushing squeak!

I washed her up good and tucked her in for a long winters nap along side the Firebird... I'm sure I'll have to go out and fire the lil' beast up once in a while. One thing for sure, this won't keep me from monitoring this great web site!

Cheers!

Welcome to the winter storage club, I think were' the only two! I put mine away in November, and I've been lurking since!!!!

Just be sure you got all the salt off from underneath and in every nook and cranny. You'd be surprised how fast the rust will start especially just sitting... When you drive the wet roads do knock some of it out (before putting more on)...but just sitting the same salt just sits in the same spot and eats away.

I'm jealous, have to drive mine in the snow, but it's looking like a mild winter so far.

I know your pain. I mothballed the motorcycle for the winter. I really need to get a battery tender for it. Looks like I know what I'll do tomorrow.

Yea I put the Harley away last month and the SS last night, but if its a nice day they both could be brought back to life, you just never know in WA.

Yeah, yeah... Tell me about it! I was down in Phoenix on 1/3 for the Packers/Cardinals football game and it was awesome! 75 degrees and the sun was shinin'... I would love to be there again right now!

Cars last so much longer down there too. It was cool seeing all those old trucks and classics rolling around rust-free! Thats where my 70 Firebird was originally sold and spent most of it's life!

I'm with you. My SS is put away for the cold months as well.

Not even worth taking out on nice days, because of all of the salt dust on the road (I can taste it on my lips when I drive; gotta wonder what it would do to the intercooler).

Can't be too healthy for people either, sliding on ice may be worse.

SS is my daily driver, so it's called upon to get me through the whole year.....with a smile on my face the whole time.
