Radio problems
[FONT="Arial"][/FONT
Last week my battery died, could not turn steering wheel or move shift lever
bought a new battery and installed it my self. car now starts and runs fine.
only problem is my radio does not work. it shows on the screen "No Vin" I have been to two (2) Chevrolet dealers and they don't have a clue how to
fix it. My question is has any other HHR ss owners had this problem if so
how did you solve the problem. The owners manual tell why this is happening but does not tell how to fix the problen tells you to see your chevy
dealer.

The factory head units are matched to the vehicle they were installed in when built, they are keyed to that particular HHR's VIN.
So it sounds like your unit lost its ability to communicate with the vehicle, why two dealers can't perform a fairly standard task of reprogramming to sync things back up is baffling.
Try calling another GM dealer in your area, its a simple fix, expect to pay between $65-$100 for the work though.

You may be giving the Service Writer the wrong/too much info. The symptom described is the same as "I put a new radio in my car" or try "my battery was out of the car for a week, now my radio does not work". Don't flood them with info, they will assume that you are another "know it all idiot" and ignore everything you say. They may also be thinking you have a stolen radio. They are a simple people.
