Radio reception

Wife just got an 09 Black SS and absolutely love it! The radio reception is much weaker than the last vehicle owned. I assume the radio antenna is the long one out front and in my opinion it's fugly. Any way to change out to something else that looks better while improving reception?

Thanks

I dunno about improving reception but there are plenty of stubby antenna's out there that fit the HHR. Try www.stubbyantenna.com or ebay for some. I got this one from the latter for around $15. It didn't help or hurt my reception

I didn't order mine from that site. Never could get the transaction to fully process so I ended up ordering mine from ebay. Here's the link to it...

That's the one I got too.
I don't even listen to FM.
I use XM when I'm sick of the 6 discs in the player or want to hear some comedy or something.
It works fine for XM.

you might check with the dealer, I have a 09 and my radio reception is excellent, it pulls in distant stations easily with the factory antenna, you might have a radio problem. I listen to xm all the time but when I listen to fm or am it pulls in fm 75 miles away with ease....

I've noticed from day one that the radio does not pull in stations as good and 99% of other cars out there. In my wifes we can pick up one station almost to the SC state line, I loose it well before in the HHR.

A shorter antenna won't pick up better, but worse. That's a gimme. It town it will probably be fine, out in the middle of nothing.......

If I remember correctly, the proper length for a FM radio mast should be 30". I know with current configurations, they have them wound and everything.

Mine is far better than my wife's Lincoln. Definitely a stronger signal, getting and holding stations on our trip to the cottage much better.
