I'm currently in the market for an SS, And wanted to get some thoughts on the RPD. How useful are they and should that be something to consider when purchasing a car? If i purchase, say a 2009 without one, would it be fairly easy to add if it is useful and if i can find one? Thanks for the input. I couldn't find anything using the search function on opinions of the RPD.

I have an SS and it's a toy. I only use it to show my MPH so I don't have to look down. You can't see water temp that good and it doesn't show oil pressure. Oh boy, let's know my G force going around a turn, lol.

The RPD is AWESOME...
The Data that it provides is very useful for tuning, & very useful at the track...

Plus it's fun to observe wants going on when driving down the street/highway...

 

I've grown to like my RPD more and more. Since it monitors many things from air/fuel ratio, fuel pressure, tire pressures, battery voltage etc., it's a neat little gadget.

 

Gotta agree. It is a toy, but it is a pretty damn cool toy! I only wish there was a way to tie the DIC buttons on the wheel to the RPD display. Now THAT would be way cool.
I alternate between the big boost gauge, air/fuel and the speedo. And yes, I do see how far I can make the G force meter peg!

 

Get the one with RPD. It is a really cool piece. I don't know about adding it separately , but you can add a-pillar boost gauge. It is pre-wired.

 

Going by what other people say; the RPD is not available new, maybe from junkyards. It is very difficult if possible to figure out how to wire it in.

 

It requires many sensors and connections to read the logarithms

 

I want one not having any luck finding one
