I used to get that with the leather seats I have, so I think it might be the carpet when the vehicle is new. Now that the HHR is a little older, the zapping has gone away.

How bad I get zapped, depends on what shoes I am wearing.

I have the same thing happen when I get out of my HHR too. It just started happening about 4 months ago and it drives me nuts. My old Trailblazer used to do the same thing. I sold it because it irritated me so much.

Try attaching a small length of chain to your shoes for grounding.

Tim you are killing me LOL. I personally have never had this problem. But seeing as I like to wear long pieces of chain attached to my shoes..it could not be more convenient, Thanks for the tip. Todd(Uma)
