There is probably some engine damage. By the look of the picture most likely the Turbo, intake and I bet whole engine is pushed back into the firewall a little. Hope no on byes it and tries to fix it. Gonna cost a lot.

not really if you do the labor yourself
I know its not much to pull the frame, most of the cost is in the labor
if you do the labor yourself you could probably fix it for 3 or 4 grand
considering the engine is ok

It was there, just way up from where it should be... kinda makes you wonder since the bumper didn't appear to be shifted way down.

You can see the bottom part of the tip in photo #9.

Anyone want to guess why it got that way? From the pictures it is an Automatic and probably suffers from the same brake issues that other SS owners of an SS Automatic have started to complain about. I wonder if this was the cause of the accident and was reported to the NHTSA website. Be interesting to talk to the driver of that one.

Please don't start that one now as the front and rear are both damage.

I really don't think the odds are good that some lost the brakes and hit something only to throw it into reverse to hit something else.

It looks as if it was rearended and pushed into something. or it rearended something and then was hit in the rear.

Before you get too carried away make sure you know what your looking at.

Ypu woul;d be suprised that there may not be damage to the engine. After I was run off the road and the front of mine took a hit I was suprised to find there was no damage to the engine. My inter cooler took a hit but other thanthat the engine was untouched.

Note they say it runs with no problems so that tells us there is no check engine light or the like. so the intake must be intact. the hit was high enough to do that.

From the photo the hood latch on the support was driven back but there is space to give there also the radiator and condenser have room to give.

I would say of the unseen damage there is a good chance only the overflow tank may be smashed beyond the condenser and rad.

Between mine and some of the other Wrecked HHR's I have seen they hold up well and the front nose support around the engine will take a hard hit and not give much if any.

Unless someone put a SS turbo engine, SS interior, SS emblems, SS bumpers SS hood, SS spoiler, SS dash and a GM PD emblem on rads support I would say it is a real SS.

It is so much eaiser to change just the wheels.
