Some Chit Chat

Hello everyone

I recently purchased a black on black SS and I'm really enjoying the ride.

The only problem I have so far is a whistleing noise from the driver side
door or window and the dealer can't seem to fix it. They think it might be
the outside mirror.

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone has had the oil changed and if
you are using Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

I also put nitrogen in the tires mainly because of the Tire Monitoring System. I have that on my SL and haven't had any problem with it telling me that a tire was low and it's been well over a year now.
(Temps in ND are extreme as most of you know I'm sure). Tread wear seems to be almost non existent with over 11000 miles so I thought
that I would give it a try on the HHR.

I really like this discussion board and read it almost daily. Good Information
and good people participating in it.

Well since this was my first post, I should problably sign off before some
of you think I might have diarrhea of the mouth.

You all have a bright and sunshining day!

I don't have an SS...but a regular 06 HHR 1LT. I've used Mobil 1 in the past and then switched to Penzoil Platinum when Walmart was out of Mobil 1 and my HHR seems to like it a little better. Also have the nitrogen in my tires as well. I live in Colorado, so we've got lots of temp changes all the time and I haven't lost much air at all.

to the board...have fun.

Welcome to the site! I just changed the oil in my '07 2LT with the 2.2 Ecotec -- went with Mobil 1 based on what I read on this forum and on some others. Seems to be highly recommended. Will see how it works out for me.

Whistling noise has been discussed before with good information.... i think the consensus was the noise originating from the drivers outside mirror....

It is my understanding that the SS comes with synthetic and that it is required (in the owners manual) ... any brand as long as it meets GM specs, as not all do.

Side note, no block heater in the SS and discontinued as a factory option for 2009 (all models) so unless it is a dealer install alternative (Not listed for 2.0 L. at my dealer) 2009 owners living in cold climates should be using synthetic. But what do I know?
