sound after shutdown

sound after shutdown
I have noticed that a few seconds after you turn off the engine a "click, click" or "thunk, thunk" sound coming from the engine compartment. Does anyone know what that is?

It's the electronically controlled throttle plate closing. Totally normal sound.

LMAO. Those are some strong gerbils!

BTW - is a throttle plate exclusive to a turbo engine? I've never heard this sound on any other of my cars.

Good question, I have never heard it on my 2.4 or 2.2 HHR?

I hear it on my 2006 2.4 non turbo 2LT

I do not hear it on my fiance's 2006 2.4 non turbo 2LT
