squealers on brake pads?
squealers on brake pads?
Hey, do these cars have squealers on the front pads? I hope so. How much pad do I have left once they start to squeal? I need the car for 2 more days before I can change them or should I give the little women the bad news shes riding the bus?
The front pads do have wear indicators, "squealers." When mine started to make noise recently I only had about 1/16" left--maybe less. I would replace them as soon as you can. I continued to drive the car for about a week after they started squawking. I had to change them because they were driving me nuts, and drawing too much negative attention from the neighbors.
You should have plenty of time to change them at some resonable amount of time after they start making noise.
You should always get your rotors turned when changing pads. Those are metal to metal mating surfaces. Need to start fresh on both sides.

That is true. however, you are shortening the life span of the new pads. You can't win either way. Further, if he has any un even ware on them he'll have to turn them.
My fault, I didn't make it clear. You replace the rotors, cutting just leads to warping in the near future. With the cost of labor for cutting the rotors you can buy new rotors.
