SS at 40K
I rolled 40K this past week and am still lovin' this car. Purchased new in Apr 08, I drive 106 mi to work 5 days a week and it's a pleasure.
I've had none of the major problems that some have mentioned here. No major mods, added mudflaps and a bumper protector tho.
I was going to include some pictures but several roads around here have been oiled recently so my SS has been as well. Washed it today, clay bar and wax tomorrow.

I have 14k troublefree miles on my SS. I must admit, although I value the opinions of the membership of this website, it has created a false sense of vulnerability in my outlook of reliability in my HHR. I'm almost waiting for it to break. Did I buy a great running, fun driving P.O.S.? I still HOPE not.
From past experience, many told me the same thing when I bought an equally unique vehicle, my Suzuki Samurai back in 1987. We didn't have internet back then (at least on a social level). It was mainly from parking lot and club get togethers. It's still in my car corral without any major issues (I did the 1st tune up last year and rear brakes last week; that's it). I guess that the opinions that I received back then proved to be wrong. I hope the same for my HHR SS.
They said this was junk We say this one's junk
The pic of old and new junk are recent. Old junk is 22 years old and is doing just fine. New junk is doing just as well. I'll post one of new junk in 22 years, when old junk is 44 years old. We'll see if they both past the test of time.
Experience rules! Perception sucks!

Congrats Arne73! :twothumbs Although I'm sure if you're like me you'd rather be keepin' the miles down on the SS at some point. We don't want to pass up that 100K mi. eng./drivetrain warranty in 2 years!
I have 44k on mine now, and although mine has not been totally trouble free it hasn't been too rough either. It seems the dealer finally figured out my throttle positon error, and even with that it has never left me stranded once. I once bought a Dodge Caravan that died on me several times in 6 mo. and I immediately sent it down the road and vowed to never buy one again!
The biggest problem I have now is that my wife has "inherited" the SS on a daily basis as I have a company vehicle now... I just miss driving it on a regular basis... but glad it will probably last us a much longer time. My commute is longer than yours, 122 miles x 5 days a week!

Good to hear she's running strong! I just rolled 18k the other day and no real issues. I love this car! Great MPH, fun to drive, good aesthetics, and I can haul all the groceries I want!
87, Sami's are great. I learned how to drive on a Sami in the mountains of Washington state. There is a local Sami club here in omaha, and some are hardcore rock crawlers on the weekend. Keep that Sami alive!
