Sucks to hear about your car.

Honestly, the cell phone isn't the issue. The issue is that people don't know how to drive. As a professional driver with loads of on the job driving training I can tell you. The problem is that there are people on the road that were poorly trained from the begining by people who were poor drivers themselves (parents). The fact that they haven't crashed and killed without the cell phone is dumb luck. Add the cell phone is just the distraction to the driving. But it could be a cell phone, a new cd, magazine, or others in the car. A distraction is a distraction.

My point is, if they were better drives from the beginning of the day, the cell phone would have less impact (no pun) on their driving. They simply don't have the driving skills.

I agree with that assessment for the most part. As a rule I avoid cell phone usage while driving and in most cases I will pull over before or very shortly after if I have to answer the call and I usually am wearing a blue tooth headset if I am going to be driving more than a short range. I frequently see people gabbing away on their phones for miles while swerving their cars and making knee jerk reactions to stop. I consider myself a very safe driver as this is only the second accident I have been in while in a moving vehicle and the first one was not my fault and I do not consider this one my fault either. I had two more this year but both times my car was parked and I was not in or near the vehicle and both times the person that hit it was on a cell phone. But you are right you cannot blame the cell phone for a bad driver that cannot pay attention.

Hopefully I will get a damage report today or tomorrow and find out how long I have to drive this POS Rental Car.

I figure if someone is going to cause me damage Im gonna take em with me....no sense driving off the road in these cars and tearing them up while the other guys drives off into the sunset probably not even realizing what they did.....these cars are safe
But read that as a last resort..if I can steer clear by all means I will....but id contact is to be made.....

They can make all the laws they want on banning phones etc in the car but the only way to solve this issue is to remove the idiots. The problem is there are so many of them anymore.

My theory has always been the world has gotten worse and dumber when we created seat belt laws, Helmet laws and air bags. These things are now saving the people that are too stupid to live. Before we culled the heard. LOL! I say this as a joke but the truth is what used to kill the stupid is happen less and less anymore. Now they are taking the rest of us out.

Be glad the air bag did not come out. Mine came out but I did not hit it but it hit me. I was burned pretty good and cut up both arms from the steering wheel cover. My sunglasses ended up in the back of the SS.

I know it would have helped if I had hit something but the folding of my bumper under and poping back out set it off. I was almost stopped. It was kind of like getting sucker punmched and then hit with boiling water. Man it hurt.

LOL ...yes My friend agreed .... thats why my ancestors pushed miscreants out on iceflows ...natural selection , mother nature is a ***** ...but she knows what shes doing !

Well I wasn't thinking like that when I reacted to the jerk cutting me off. I don't think they even saw me despite me having my lights on. Of course after it was all over and I thought about it I did say to myself I should of just hit them because it would have shown that the person merged right into me and it was their fault and I would have to pay out my deductable. I also thought that the road had a recessed median so I could just swerve over and regain control back into the lane but I was wrong.
