SS Auto question

I'm a turbo beginner. I've read various quotes of how many pounds of boost, etc...I have an automatic, and I'm at 7psi, consistantly, does this sound consistant with other automatics??

Are you flooring the gas pedal off the line? If so, you should be able to get more than that - maybe 12 PSI.

Hey - I work in Princeton, not far from you in East Brunswick. I have never seen a sunburst SS.

Roofer.

Boost depends on a lot of things. The cold outside temps don't help you, but I would think you would see more than 7psi. Check it at higher RPMs, just before it shifts (at full throttle).

I used to visit company (now out of business) in East Brunswick. It was nice as I could visit my aunt who works at Rutgers, but now I don't have an excuse to go there any more

I see 8-12 PSI depending on the weather in 1st and 2nd gear.

In 3rd and 4th I see at least 15-17 PSI again depending on the weather.

Keep in mind the boost is restricted in 1st and 2nd gear on the Auto's.

I note as soon as the temps climb over 40 degrees the boost and performance increase noticably.

I have an auto SS and I get more than that. Usuall 12 - 15 PSI in 2nd and 3rd gear. I will add that I had to bring my HHR SS into the shop because I felt a loss of power and a loss of boost and they had to reset my ECM or something like that and replace some small sensor.

I would get about 7-10lbs. Now with the upgrade I'm getting closer to 20. With an adjusted wastegate closer to 25. A quick fix for the low boost, GM turbo upgrade kit.

With the pedal to the floor, i've never seen the gauge go above 7psi. Once it reaches 7, it stays, even as the gears shift.

I actually haven't come across another SS yet, since I've had it.

When it was single digits here a few weeks ago , i tried in vain to mash the gas at random speeds, but the boost never got halfway to what it usually is at warmer temps, say 45-50 degrees.

Single digits -teens = only about what you said roofer1976 , 7 lbs
the 1st warm day last spring, temp was about 60 degrees , got the boost 18-19 lbs.

I've only had it since November, so I haven't really driven in warmer weather yet.

Welcome... Had it since November... and you haven't done anything to it yet? Just hang around here and we'll have that thing up to 20lbs of boost in no time.
