SS-Has it changed your driving habits?

When I was using my 94 Silverado as my DD, I was putting about 950mi a month on it. Now that I have the SS, I'm currently averaging about 1350. It seems I'm looking for every little excuse to run somewhere. Damn, I wish this ride wasn't so much fun and addictive to drive.

Do you think there' be an SS Anonymous to cure this?

If there ever is an SS Anonymous, it would have to include time on this site as well as Modifying OUR HHRs!

For my job I used to fly from Western Michigan to our Toronto plant, but since having the SS, I have only driven! 260HP and XM is a bad combination. And, getting about $.50/mile while doing it makes it really bad

The HHR SS is far from the fasest car I have driven or owned. It also is not the best handling I have ever driven or owned. But it is one of the best sorted packages I have ever driven for the money. To get the performance refinment we have you have to pay twice the price.

A well sorted car make itself feel slower than it really is. It absorbes the bumps and road defects while still providing a good ride. This is what the HHR SS does.

I have never owned or driven a car in this price range that felt this well sorted out. I often drive where I feel comfortable and find I am 15-20 MPH faster than I though and have to slow down.

That is what I have had to change is I have to watch my speed more.

Anyone who has driven a 911 at speed will understand. 100 MPH in a good 911 feels like 50 MPH. It is all due to a well tuned car. Something few American cars achieve.

The only car that can compare to the HHR SS in the American market is the Cobalt SS since it is made of the same parts. People are just learning how good it is and we are still the seceret.

LOL, well two people now know the secret, A certain merc clk550 (or whatever the exact 5XX...nice lookin ride though) and a s-10 xtreme (yuck, mustard yellow with dual black rally stripes) found out who gets the righthand lane after the highway widens to 3 lanes from 2.

I smash these fools without disrupting traffic, the merc "gets it' and dosent try to get around by endangering everyone else on the road (probably much older and richer dude), the punk in the xtreme decideds to pass on the right and then cut ...well actually SLASH into an innocent hondas lane to get ahead, he (or she) decides to pass on the right again IN THE FN SHOULDER. The empire was gonna strike back, however my exit was near, I didn't want the punk to kill someone trying to stay out of my rearview.

I really have to control myself, because I find myself being much more aggressive with the SS.....because I can! Unlike hyper, this is the fastest and best handling car I've ever driven (except for my trip around the track in a 800 HP NASCAR car a few years ago), and I take advantage of it. Every time I get in it I'm like a kid in the candy store, and I'm 47 years old.

But realistically I'm a pretty conservative driver - this car just brings out the animal in me at times. It allows me to get up to speed a lot faster, change lanes, go quicker on sharp turns, chase down people who think they are faster than me, etc. Just lots of fun stuff.

Hopefully I can keep my top speed under control or I'll be paying more money to my government soon! Basically I'm a chicken when it comes to top speed, not because I'm afraid of going fast, but because I don't want my insurance to go up!

I hear ya there jersey! My last ticket was almost 7 years ago, my rates are super cheap and I like em that way. I could have DESTROYED that s-10 (I'm familiar since that is my second car) especially since the next 2 miles was a nice narrow winding bridge with a 1 mile section of 50mph highway no bank turns. I also know that I could( not will or should) surpass his maximum redlibe top speed by the end of that stretch :) Not worth the 4 mile detour

As much as I dislike my job, I sure enjoy the drive a lot more- 52 miles of interstate and 2 lane highways along with an XM radio.
My only complaint is racking up the total miles...

The front wheel drive of this car is pretty squirly but this is true of front wheel drives....Front wheel drive does not partcularly lend itself to driver passion..The suspension is pretty stiff in the bumps but does reward on cornering which is an accomplishment considering the shape of the vehicle... The car does make for a great hwy cruiser....

The car is by far the slowest of my rides .. it does deliver as a great beater in bad weather or running errands....

No... I used to own a Dodge Magnum so I am used to playing with the power when I want and driving "normal" the remainder of the time.

Changed my driving habits? How can it not!
Ask my wife.
Ask the fools I bury on the freeway circular enterance and exit ramps.
Ask my '93 Ranger 4x4
