SS Hood Insulation Question
I agree with you, too, dude! That lil 2.0 makes a helluva clatter at idle. As it is, you barely hear the turbo anyway. I more enjoy the rumble from the muffler. I think I'll look into the local junk yard or price one off the the shelf. I mean, really, what could it add? 2, maybe 3, pounds of weight? I can lose that in one day.
The fact that there is no insulation under the hood yet the rest of the SS is heavily insulated coupled with the large gap between the hood and the fenders makes me believe that they are trying to insure as cool of air is possible is drawn over the engine at speed.
How is the dynamat hood liner different than the regular dynamat extreme? I have some left over so could easily replace my hood liner with it.
By the way, several years ago there was talk here about removing the hoodliner. One opinion back then was that it helped insulate the heat inside the engine. Plus, someone suggested that without it, the hood paint might become damaged from the heat. Didnt make sense to me, since in the old days there was no hoodliner, but then again, these engines run hotter than the old 180 degree motors of the 60's.
