SS Panel

New to the forum here. I bought this SS Panel in August. It had been a working vehicle for a caterer before I got it, so it needed a bit of work. I thought it would’ve been perfect for my mobile DJ business and I thought it was cool as hell so I bought it. So far I’ve replaced the steering rack, A/C, brakes and brake lines and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. At any rate, here she is:

That is a beauty! Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

Please tell us more, like what year it is; auto or manual, how many miles, etc.

Of course! Yes it's a 2009. It's an automatic. Black interior. It does not have the information pod in the center of the dashboard like some of the SS's do. When I got it in August it was a little worn out. It had 183,000 miles on it. The guy had been using it for his catering business and it was definitely a working vehicle. The engine and transmission were replaced by GM two years ago. I went through it and had my mechanic replace everything that needed attention. Steering rack, air conditioner, brakes and brake lines, tires and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. Three weeks ago I stood on it for the first time, seeing how fast it would accelerate etc.. Bad news, the transmission started bucking and kicking it down shifted and it got worse and worse. Fortunately the transmission was under warranty and they're in the process of replacing it. But then I got another curveball, a wiring harness assembly was shorting out. No big deal, let's just order another one. They're discontinued and there isn't a single one to be had in the entire country. So I'm looking for somebody to reassemble the harness. And so it sits for now at the dealer ☹️

But the upside is I had red caliper covers installed and it looks badass 😄

Hoping to get her back on the road here in a couple of weeks so we can get back to our regular Saturday morning cars and coffee routine.

Glad I found this site. Thanks everyone for all the welcome messages.

Careful with certain parts on the SS , specifically the steer knuckles , ball joints , brake rotors, are all SS only!
repairing that wire harness shouldn’t be to hard for a professional wiring guy. Find the short, replace that wire! The transmission issue is great you have a warranty on a 16 year old car.

Thank you for the advice on the front end Parts. I had read that I think on this site and made sure the front end was intact. All that stuff had been replaced already. I don't know how long ago but my mechanic said the front end had already been rebuilt. That probably would've been a deal killer if it hadn't.
