ss panel limited production?
By the look of last years (2008) I think less than 300-500 for SS Panel. Dealers do not want to get stuck with hard sell. All the salesmen would tell me the panel only seats 2... Duh So thats why I want it! Very few of us that are Panel Passionate.
i think it will be a low production number because it's a two seater with a huge blind spot that cost more than a normal one, not because it is limited.
i agree with tingle49, very few of us are panel passionate. i even have a magnum panel.

I've never seen one of these Magnums. That is friggin sa-weeeet.
My first choice would have been a panel, but with 2 young kids, it's kinda not fair for them even if it seated 4.
If I had the ching, I would order a panel SS without hesitation as a sunday driver.

Sales for the SS panel are limited.
Most companys will not use them because of the extra cost and it is not a family vehicle.
There are a hand full of people out there that would like one and GM is going to cater to them. I am sure they would build more if demand warrants but why over build them if they are going to sit on the dealer lots.
The most panel sales are going for delivery use and a 2.2 at the cheaper price fit what most panel buyer want or need.
It is like the fewer number of 5 speeds as most people do not buy them anymore. The total market numbers for manual shifts are around 7% and it drops every year.
Fact is fewer and fewer people even know how to drive one.
To be honest with how companys work today we are lucky they even are offering the SS in a Panel. It is a good thing all of the parts are just bolt on's.
Limited volume car are seldom profitable at a low price.

Demand and supply!
Believe me, if sales go through the roof, they won't be "limited". But as mentioned, they probably won't. In a year of owning my panel, I have seen maybe 2 in St. Louis that were being used as a normal everyday vehicle.

We have had about 2 custom ones here but I do see a lot of compnies using them as work truck. Many are dressed up well for work trucks with wheels and such.
I just don't see a lot of market for the general public. But it is nice to have the option if that is what you want. That is a rare thing.Just try to buy a stripped down V8 Camaro when they come out. That is not going to happen.
