SS Stripes or Not?

Agreed. Plus, many cars with stripes don't age well. I'm thinking of the hundreds of Dodge Neon and Dakota R/Ts running around here. What was cool in the late '90s looks cheesy now. The new Camaro will always look good with them because it mimics a classic. For me, if it aint a classic musclecar - or replica of same - don't stripe it. YRMV.

When Chevy put the SS badge on the HHR it made it a classic to me. That's why I wanted to put a cowl hood on it. I ordered the typical SS hood scoop as would be seen on any 69-70 Camarro, Chevelle, ect. I received this scoop (two humps) instead which kind a bummed me out at first. I tried to return it for a scoop with just a single hump and a bead down the middle. The manufacturer didn't make one in steel but they gave me this one for free. I decided to use it. I would like to put SS stripes on it but 70 style stripes just don't look right on this round hood. I'm going to try and replicate the new Camarro stripes on it. I went to Harbor Freight and can buy a whole sleeve of electrical tape for a couple of bucks. It works good for seeing what different stripes would look like. A cheep man's Photo Shop:) Once I figure out what I like I'll probably paint the stripes on.
