Sounds like you were tripping over your own balls. Actually, sounds like a throttle problem or maybe an injector that's dirty.

cold temps=faster and as much boost ECU will allow, exception manual boost controller, VW has a limp mode for protection, it temporarily cuts boost until restart

Happened again today 3 times. Pulled over and and turned it off then restarted and all was well. The 3rd time it happened my check engine light is on and has remained on, just had the tune put in on Saturday and I'll be going back to the dealer tomorrow to see if we can figure out what's going on.
