I have been thinking that a mesh grille insert in the stock SS grille shell might look pretty cool. I have not found one on the market so I sent an email to Street Scene to see if they where working on one. And as it turns out they are. See the email response below I got from Mike at Street Scene. Although, it might not be what I had in mind as they are developing a complete new grille shell. I guess time will tell. G.B.

"Thanks for your inquiry Brett regarding a street scene speed grille for your HHR. The problem is that our grille wont work with the stock grille shell. We are going to have to develop a grille shell and a grille insert to work with your vehicle. This is in the R & D department for design now however we don’t expect to see anything for 4 or 5 months. Supposedly they make grilles for the regular HHRs, but I've never seen one & there are no pics on street scene's site or any aftermarket parts dealers

 

They will also offer aluminum Billet Bow Ties for the front and rear soon.

 

Shoot! They don't make billet bowties for Subaru.

That is why I don't buy imports. They look like my old truck with a bad paint job.

I have looked as well. I found other brand mesh grilles for non-SS HHR's but I did not like the way they looked. They all used a new grille shell. I think a mesh grille would look pretty cool with the stock SS grille shell that has the body color bar thru the center. I might have to just make one myself if I can come up with some mesh material.
