Question Thoughts on this setup for the SS?

So I plan on picking up a set of new rims which will be 18x8 with 38mm offset. I want to place a set of Conti DWS on them but of course the 225/45-18 that Tirerack suggests are on back order. Do you think a set of 235/45-18's would still clear? There is a member here who is running the 235/45-18's on his SS but on custom 18x7.5 rims. A couple of site members I've been talking to seem to think they would still work. Tirerack themselves have not been very helpful other than stating that they only suggest a 225/45 and since they don't currently have Contis in that size would I like some Michelin Pilots. Ummmm, NO! So what do you guys think?

I just bought the OZs which are 18X8 and will be putting on 245/40s on them. It will clear no problem. Which rims did you get?

Those are going to look short if he's not lowered like yours

I do not want 40's as for the reason posted above. I'm asking whether you think there will be issues with the 235/45's. As for what rims you will just have to wait and see The stockers will be kept as backups and for winter.

Think it will work if it gives you the sidewall appearance you want I like them square but I'm old the kids seem to like them rounded. Do we have to make the picnic to see ??

255x40 same height as 225x45

discount tire say's they have the conti in 235x45 I would have them mount one see how it fits !

Also your current wheels are 18" x 7.5" with a 225 tire! We have always thought the standard 225 tires looked a tad narrow on a 7.5" rim and you will be going to an 8" wide wheel! We think the 235 tire will look better than the recommended 225! There recommendations are usually factory size based (hince take this size off and put the same size back on)!

You will be fine with the 235/45 man no problem.

But they don't have the rim that I want and that is where the question lies. The extra 1/2" in width of the rim and the difference in offset. As stated one member is already running these tires on their SS but on an 18x7.5 rim.
