Tire Size

Thinking about some Continental Sport Contact 2 tires. I know someone who has some new unused tires but they are 245/40/18. Is 245 too wide for my '09 HHR SS?
Thanks, Ray in TX.

There are quite a few members using 245/40's on here. They fit, but are a bit shorter than the 225/45.

I had Continental Extreme contacts dws's on my cobalt and loved them, yet again I only had them for a month then sold the car.

Think 245's will rub when lowered? Im lowered on CM/SSC cobalt SS springs.

Nah, wont rub if lowered, and they are 3mm shorter than the 225's, I have 255"s that dont rub. And they are .1mm taller.

Update,......Found some tires that fit the 7.5"x 18 rims and clear the spring perch,.....at 235x45 they ride as good as mine. But they aren't cheep, thinking of spoiling the panel , and me with a set. They went up since I checked last week, we, Banshee08, and I got a set for His SS last week installed for 916.00
Hope he don't mind you all knowing what His tires cost, pm him and see if he likes them.
