Turbo trouble
Turbo trouble
I own a 08 with a 110k while tracking down noisy exhaust I found a blown exhaust to turbo gasket and a hairline crack inside the turbo along the plenum rib. Just having logged 1k on the car I dont have much history to draw a conclusion. My plans are for a magnaflow cat, new radiator, and maybe a helper fan.....along with new belts hoses and thermostat.....also of course a new turbo.......any thoughts or suggestions would be apricated also directions toward the turbo maybe brand wise Picture will come when I get Help to take and send it Bill aka Blue Devil
The crack is nothing to worry about.

Why a new radiator ? And why a helper fan ? The cooling system on the SS is more than adequate, as long as it working correctly.
At that mileage you should consider replacing the timing chains, tensioners and water pump.

The gasket is important. While you're fooling with it, check the exhaust manifold carefully for cracks.
If it's performance you seek, know that the stock exhaust is pretty good, and you can get significant improvements with nothing more than gutting the cat, charge pipes, and tuning.

Living along the shore beach traffic is a reality no matter how unwelcome....Once I was in it and once I overheated way too quickly........if i had a helper fan it may have helped two traffic lights was all it took i left out that I was of course changing the primary fan incl electric.....Bill
ZZP has an oversized aluminum radiator available.

over 240 was temp, However I just learned about the accepted burping method and not looking at overflow for accurate fill level......thanks to you all this message board has been a big help.....I did check my manifold flange and it appears to be ok.
