Wastegate rod

I've been searching all over and can't find the answer. Should the wastegate rod move freely? I'm having occassional boost issues from idle where it won't boost at all and ZZP said to check the wastegate solenoid. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if there is a CEL.

No CEL.. I just wondered if you should be able to move the rod by hand. I thought I read that if you could it was bad. I couldn't move mine at all.

I'm probably reading this wrong, but you won't have boost at idle. The wastegate rod is quite difficult to move by hand. Just because the check engine light is not on, there still may be codes stored.

The wastegate is usually associated with overboost, not underboost.

X2. There should be no boost at idle.
