What are the benefits of K+N intake?

Hey ya'll, I hope everyone is well. I am curious about the K+N intake system that is offered for our Super Sports. It says a 10 HP boost, which isn't bad for the easy upgrade. I am also wondering if GM could tell if I had, had it on at any point. Thanks for the help.

Its mostly just an air filter with better air flow and probably a better tube that aids in air flow as well. When the engine can breathe better, its more productive.

Dont worry so much about warranty stuff. Having an aftermarket part on your car doesn't void your warranty. The only way it could void it is if it was the root cause of the problem and led to whatever failure there is.The mangnuson moss act protects consumers from companies that wont honor the warranty. It has a statement in there that warrantors cannot require that only factory or oem parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty.

K&N is a very reputable company so I'd have no fear putting it on my car. Its shady ebay dealings that you have to worry about.

I appreciate the info. I am hoping that someone on our site, has direct experience with this upgrade though. As far as the warranty info is concerned, that makes a big differece to me, so thanks again.

Like he stated a little better flow and 9 HP on the dyno.

The SS intake is not that bad and the KNN only helps a little. I deal with many brands and KNN is the one I trust to put on my own vehicles.

Some vehicles will gain more if they have a poorer intake set up from the factory.

My GMC picked up 9 HP and 1 MPG.

All K&N systems and filters come with a little card with a statement and a phone number. It says something like "if you are ever told that one of our products voids any type of warranty, give this card to the repair facilty and have them call the number listed below." I have never had to use it, but it sounds like they are pretty supportive of their customers, if there ever is an issue.

Hyper and Ace,
Thanks for the info. I really feel the same way about K+N, they seem to have a pretty good rep.

Well something besides unadulterated anger would be nice as far as the info is concerned. Please let me know what they have done to upset you.

Just a couple things to note with KNN and any other oiled filter system. Most intake systems will make more noise like an old 4 barrel carb. Not an issue for most performance types but the accountant with a new Escalade ehh.

Also do not over oil the filter. Too many people over oil and take out the MAF sensor. They sometimes can be cleaned with carb cleaner but not always.

A little oil goes a long way. They note in their instructions not to over oil and they mean it. Most times in the performance after market the things that go wrong are self inflicted. The storys I could tell. LOL!
