What do you wish Chevy had done to the "SS"
your issue appears to be with merging two banks of an engine together i.e in a y pipe or a dual in singlenout catalytic converter. Being that the turbo only has a single downpipe all you could do is build a faux 'dual' exhaust where the exhaust pipe splits to two at the end, which isn't goin to do much of anything for sound quality. In fact, an improperly balanced true dual exhaust (from a V configuration engine) sounds way worse then a single!

Now to increase performance single pipe to duel it is often the wrong way. Even the 4th gen F body would lose 7-10 HP with the split exhaust. GM Performance and Flowmaster have proven this. If I had a dollar for ever F body ower that asked me why we offer as single F body exhaust I would be rich. They are often shocked to not understand the redirection of flow in the single duel outlet muffler cost HP. I tell them you want sound or performance.
As it is there are enough properly duel exhaust out there on turbo 4 cylinders that prove my point.
The bottom line is it often can cost more power to do it in a duel vs a single.
Initally it would have been sweet to see the Stage 1 and a manual 6 speed as standard. All things considered if you wanted get a little crazier a functional hood scoop, better suspension parts and maybe 330 hp. If you wanna get nuts I would say an LS engine and all wheel drive.
If these were LS powered they would be an insurance guys dream! LOL

Would be interesting to know if they came from the factoy with 290 hp if the insurance would go up.
I assume it would since there probably would be a lot of drivers not expecting the car to spin the tires from a 20 mph roll etc.
speaking of insurance...I know there are alot of factors that determain rates....but as alot of you know, I just sold my 08 HHR SS I bought a 2010 Camaro SS (lots of mods as wel,l dynoed @ 485 h.p.) but the insurance on the Camaro is only $10 dollars more every six months than it was on my HHR SS. I have the exact same plan....and it's still only that much more
X2 about the hoods on the HHR SS though...would be awesome to see some kind of functional hood on'em!
