Is this worth it?
you cand haggle them down on new one for cheaper, the buyer holds all the cards right now, gm needs all the help they can get. 4 years ago it would have been considered sought after car. But not anymore , not in this economy .. I say keep looking or offer to buy a new one for that price. Also another thought , you dont know if some boost happy perosn drove the car through 7k miles of hell or if it was even broken in properly
way too high. mine was listed for 15k used. talked him down to 13,5 i said 13 and ill sign today. this guy was in a corner front office. said he couldnt go any lower. i said okay and started to get up and he immediately said 12,8. he took a hit in his comission and got his sale that day. speaking this was the last day of the month and i had a feeling how geddy he was he hadnt met quota. even got him to detail the car for me and fix a few dents.
Too much!!
I paid $22,750 for my 08 in July less another $1,000 from my GM card for a price of $21,750 for a new HHR SS.
I have every option including a $1,000 Auto tranny this one did not have.
I would shop around more and hit them on the last 2-3 days of the month. They will need your sales and they will need your money. Also the SS will be there as for that price it is not going anywhere with the way the market is rigth now.

I am looking at an SS and the dealership quoted me $23,963 from the MSRP of 26,965. I know they can do better than that, but what should I do to negotiate with them? I want the car but I don't want to overpay!!
Well mine was $26.350 sticker and I found several on the web for around $22.750 with the same options.
They qvw me a price in the $23,000 range so I countered and told them on the second to last day of July They would sell a car if it was $22,750. 10 min later I got the e mail back that I had just bought a car.
I got to the dealer I gave them my GM card info and they took another $1,000 I earned in points on my card.
Use the web to get prices and shop around. Give them a lower price but be resonable.
I would day right now if you offered $22,500- $22,900 the new SS they may take the deal. If not give them your number and tell them to call you or you can call them on the last day of March. Either way the SS will be there and I suspect they will take the price in time.
Don't shop with emotion and don't be affraid to shop around at dealers in other cities. Use the web as a tool.
Low sales, large inventiories and expensive floor plans are all in your favore. Just don't get into a hurry and shop smart.
Also if you use the web it make negotiations much easier as you work at your pace and no pressure.
That is seems too high, I paid 21,600 last June 08. My Automatic SS has everything except the roof racks and side airbags if that was an option. I shopped 3 dealers and all prices were between 21,400 (just a basic Auto SS) and 22,900.
Mine is an 08 with 9 thousand miles. I got it for under 16,000 with them throwing the install for the stage 1 kit in for free. They screwed up the install but they still were willing to throw in their labor.
