I just bought a 2008 HR LS. The rear Dome Light would not work. I was going to try and replace the assembly, however discovered how hard it is to replace the assembly. The switch seemed loose, so I took the lens cover off the dome light. The switch lever fell out. I looked at it very closely and I discovered the metal contacts of the switch has a spring underneath it. It was stuck. I used some WD 40 on it and it came loose. Put it back together and it works well now.

You are lucky, they usually get melted beyond recognition.

The actual fixture is held to the roof by a magnet. After you know that it comes off easily.
