I know what your saying. but they do have 15 yr antifreeze out now too. sometimes the air can really be hard to get out. I used the burping method for many yrs as a retired ASE master tech on customers cars. the vacuum tool makes it easier and faster for me. the price is not too bad. since Im retired I don't get on the tool trucks anymore. I only buy cheap tools. I got the vacuum bleeder from Harbor Freight, again. nothing wrong with the burping method.

So long as that 15 year stuff is 50/50 Dexcool, which I don’t think it is.

these Ecotec engines require Dexcool 50/50 changed every 5 years.

Well you are the master tech, you know these particular engines better than the manufacturer. Prestone makes a DexCool you know, if you think the brand means something.

Coolant discussion always gets weird. I recommend the product the manufacturer recommends. I change it every 5 years. As mentioned, it is your car therefore your choice. The Ecotec engine will last if you maintain it as suggested by the manufacturer. 14 years of owning an HHR and still running well

I agree with the weird part. this will be my last post since a few want to challenge the outcomes of a repair or the technique's used. I have 52 years under my belt with 19 certifications from Ford also. I have no problem completing the problems on my vehicles. I joined this forum to try and help a few repair their vehicles, not to be questioned or interrogated about the diagnostics I used to get the job done. God bless all.

I followed the steps exactly and I'm not sure I did it right. :/

When the car is hot, I can not squeeze the big rubber hose coming out of the coolant fill cap. I am also getting a gurgling sound from the smaller hose going into the metal connection to the turbo. If I pinch it, the noise goes away. I'm assuming this is air in the lines?

I keep having to top off the resevoir. Temperature has not gone above 205°F.

Do I need to start over or just tilt the front up and run the heater again?

Does it matter if the car is hot or cold? Or what temp should it cool off to? Car has sat overnight at this point.
