BUMP. Still looking.
BUMP. I just wanted to let you know that I am still looking for a set of undamaged OEM Chevy HHR SS wheels. If you have a set to sell, please PM me with the price and some photos. Thanks, Don
I ship parts at my job and have a few tips. Shipping to a business is cheaper than shipping to your home, so if you can have packages delivered to your workplace it can save you quite a bit. If you are shipping big stuff or oddball shaped items. Check with your local fastenal store. They do store to store shipping and it is usually cheaper than UPS or Fed Ex.
It should not cost $400 to ship a set of wheels. I’m not saying that the $400 quote was ripping you off, as places like the UPS store are high priced. I just think there are other options and if you get a good price on some wheels out of your area it can still workout for you.

Might look into greyhound. I have no personal experience, just a suggestion.

Hello Don, SS wheels are hard to find in excellent condition. I got my set from SuperSlick13 and all were in very good shape. I feel blessed to have gotten this set. 3 had light rash and 1 had heavy rash. I took them to Rim Guard here in Charlotte to get them re-polished to like new condition but they told me they couldn't do them because they were highly polished and they didn't have the equipment to return the original luster. They referred me to QuickSilver 3 hrs away and they quoted me $150 a wheel to refinish them. $600 was a lot more than I wanted to pay so I refinished them myself. I started out with 180 grit and a rubber sanding block to get out the heavy damage and progressed up in girt to 220, 320, 400, 600, 800,1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and finished up with 3000. I only did the rash areas 180 - 800 but sanded the entire wheel starting at 1000 - 3000. These wheels appear to be plastic coated and I only went through the coating at the rash areas. All of the other wheel scratches were in the plastic coat and sanded out with 1000 grit. I finished the job with an electric drill and a Mothers rim ball and used their mag polish. They all turned out perfect! I spent about 4hrs a wheel to bring them back to like new condition. The back side of the rims I scrubbed with a scotch bright pad and lacquer thinner to get the tar, grease and weight glue off. I plan on doing the wheels on my Panel SS this winter. 3 wheels on it have light curb rash. Good Luck with your search.

Thanks for the reply. There is a Fastenal branch fifteen miles from here in Eureka,CA. Unfortunately they do not do store to store shipping at their location. The closest location to me is Redding CA, 140 miles east of here. It is not a bad drive through the mountains, but sometimes during the winter the rain and snow cause mud and rockslides. I was told that due to Covid-19, Fastenal is temporarily halting store to store shipping. When I find a set of wheels, I will check with the store in Redding for shipping details. Thanks again for the information. Don

Thanks for the reply. There is a Greyhound terminal about seven miles from here. I never thought Greyhound for shipping, but it is definitely worth looking into. Thanks again, Don.

Thanks for the detailed how-to for repairing the wheels. If I cannot get a full set of undamaged wheels, I will refer to this information when I repair the least damaged wheels. Congratulations on your find and on the success of refinishing your, now new, set of wheels. Thanks again, Don

That shipping quote is INSANELY high, little tip when trying to ship things from my own experience as a warehouse manager.
Fedex is almost always cheaper, and boxes generally arrive in much better shape than UPS. (both of these i believe depend on location)
Go to an office depot to their shipping counter for a quote, it's almost always cheaper than the UPS or Fedex stores ironically enough.
Lastly, IF you have access to someone with a commercial account for Fedex/UPS it is about 1/2 the price or better. I quoted your shipment from above, 12x24x24 30lb ea 4 boxes total, and I could send that shipment for just over $110 via UPS and less than $100 via FedEx.
Good luck on the wheel hunt, I may be right there with you. I want to take my Enkei's off and put stock ones on for winter with snow tires.
