Almost a new HHR owner!..some questions

I signed papers today for an 09' LT2. I held out for the bigger engine. Is there much difference between the 1LT and 2LT? I'll be using it mainly for deliveries and will be carrying between 600-1000lbs daily. What are the two or three best modifications I can make to handle the weight and improve performance? This is a real fun vehicle to drive! Thanx!

Thanx for your input. I was thinking along the same lines. Are there CERTAIN products you might recommend that has a consensus on this forum? I believe a certain sway bar is quite popular but are Cobalt springs or HHR SS springs the way to go? Thanx!

Wow. Up to 1000 lbs? On a daily basis? Not sure, but that's may be a little past the recommended limit. It may even bottom out the stock rear suspension.

You can change springs. But as fireman said thats a lot of weight. Probably going to take a toll on brakes, etc.

Dont mean to be negative. Just trying to inform.

You certainly don't want cobalt lowering springs, sway bar yes.

Thanx for your thoughts. It might be closer to 700-800lbs. We filled my buddies' 2011 HHR panel with the material I deliver and it lowered the back end about two inches. We drove the vehicle also and seemed to handle the weight just fine.

Manual or Auto?

Over 95% of 2LTs are automatic, so yours probably is, too. If not, the short-shifter kit and weighted shift knob are wonderful. I agree with the rear sway bar. I have kept away from springs and lowering (despite everything else I did, see below). The less soft factory FE3 suspension on the 2LT rides fine for me. I also suggest getting dual horns as a safety issue. The single horn in the HHR is inadequate.
