First post, and questions

Hi all,

I am new here, but I have been lurking for a bit now. I have a 2008 HHR LS in electric blue, with just about 262K kilometers on it, I bought it new in December of 2007.

I have an oil leak (oil drip actually), just had the car in the shop for some other repairs and they said that the Oil Pressure Sensor needs to be replaced to fix the leak. Has anyone replaced this on their car themselves? I'm looking for some instructions on how to replace it myself.

Thanks!!

Welcome!

Moving to Introductions.

I have not done the replacement myself, but it should be simply unscrewing the old and screwing the new. If that's the source of the leak it should be easy to see.

Welcome to the site

Here is a diagram of the oil sender. It is just above the starter. It's fairly easy to change out with an oil psi socket. You can rent one from most local part stores.

OK, I got the sensor changed out yesterday. It can be done from the topside of the engine, just getting the connector off the sensor was rather difficult (tight area, only one hand, everything coated in oil). It required a 1 1/16" socket to remove. It would be easier to get it from under the engine, once the starter is removed. I couldn't get the car up high enough to get at it from there though. Now to steam clean the engine and make sure it doesn't leak anymore.

A good option for cleaning is (purple, orange etc.) stuff, whatever is your favorite. Spray it on liberally let sit for a while, then hose off.

Be sure to remove the air intake tube!!!!!!!! it cannot handle getting wet. And be careful of the firewall insulation.
