Cool Greetings from Panama!

Hola!

I´ve just purchased a second hand mildly abandoned 2008 Chevy HHR as personal project. This is my first car project since I have being a bike rider almost all my life.

I come from a bike forum dedicated to my model of bike (suzuki intruder) M109Riders.com and I have found a bunch of great folks to trade parts and stories; and I hope I can do likewise in here.

Thanks for this great site, hopefully in the future I can upload some pics when the chevy is better looking, right now I am fighting roaches off the car and it have a steady check engine light which I think is related to the gas cap.

Here is a pic of me and my wife riding in the rain in my country:

to the forums!! That check engine light, you should get the OBD2 codes read. Then we can help you figure out what is wrong!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I just had it cleaned and detailed yesterday. The car was bought from the US with a crash on the passenger door behind the driver. The airbag system from that side was lost and they had to rebuild the door and part of the roof interiors. So far so good no leaks from rain as far as I can notice.
It's odo reads 133K KM! (88k+ miles) and it still running.

Thanks! 5 year with that almost 60k KM atm, I commute with it as well as long trips with a riding club.

Here are some pics from the seller before the detailing, probably the former owner still lurks around here?

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone! less than 4 days with the HHR and I had my first win against the gremlins or gnomes in this case!
The check engine light was on because there were false contacts in the fuse box inside the cabin, plus a few dried out cocroach nests

After a quick cleanup and ignition check the CE light was gone!

Also changed the stock gas cap to one with a lock I got from an old Chevy s-10 my father had.

It seems the rest is just downhill from now, with this mods fever it's going to be a long season

Good luck with your HHR, Jack. Glad you found a few of the "gremlins".

You live in a beautiful country by the way. Been there a few times through the years.
