Smile GTA Area HHR Owner

Hello all,

I'm finally checking in to this very useful site for the HHR. I am the second owner of an 06 LS 2.2/5-speed with 230,000 plus km.

I must say that this vehicle has surpassed my expectations for a North American vehicle. I have owned many German built cars which have easily surpassed this mark with minimal problems provided you regularly maintain the vehicle. So far the HHR seems to be holding its own.

I have had to replace and/or repair items to this vehicle that normal owners will not encounter yet due to there vehicles having much lower mileage. I try to do most of the repairs and maintenance on this vehicle myself. So if any one has a question for me, feel free to ask. I will try to pass on any info/know how I have in regards to these vehicles.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums! Always good to hear a high mileage owner whos pleased with the vehicle. What colour do you have? And what are some of the repairs you have had to do?

Thanks...

Some of the larger repairs done so far have been the AC/Heater Blower motor-front wheel bearings-brakes-thermostat-control arm bushings and sway bar bushings. Some smaller ones have been replacing the EVAP purge solenoid-gas cap-spark plugs-air filter-cabin air filter and the transmission oil.

The car still has the original clutch in it and it seems to still feel good. Next on the list is to diagnose some sunroof issues. The roof sometime works fine and other times it will just cut out without warning while opening or closing . I think it seems to be electrical related.

Interesting, thanks for the info. The bushing replacement is pretty common, Ive heard a couple people on here had to do the wheel bearings and thermostat. In total, pretty good for a high mileage car.
Hope you get that sunroof problem, sounds annoying.
Question, was the EVAP solonoid covered under the 7yr emmissions warranty?

Unfortunately it wasn't. Being the second owner and with the high mileage they wouldn't touch it. On the other hand it was a relatively cheap fix.

I had the EVAP Large leak detected code coming up. The car would always stumble and stall after a fill up. Changed the gas cap and the code came back. Changed the solenoid and I haven't had a problem since. Quite an easy fix, part was around $50 from the dealer if i recall correctly.
