Hell-o

Let me introduce myself,
my name is Jack I have a 2007 HHR and I need some help identifying a triangle bolt pattern on the driver side of the engine.

Has anyone ever seen this bolt pattern, the reason I'm asking I have one clean hole and wondering if something bolted on and fell off.

Thank you

Welcome from Michigan

Jemyers, I can't help you with your question but someone here will.

Welcome to the site.

Could you be a little more specific about the location of this "triangle" ?
The members here would love to help you. Better yet, a picture would most likely do the trick.

If you pull the drivers wheel and look, you are going to see the transmission, not the engine.
Now. Do you have a automatic or standard transmission? Mine is a standard and I don't see anything like you described.
You can put that picture in your gallery(the little camera icon by your name)
We could then look at it there and move it to this thread for you
Fwiw. There are all kinds of "unused" threaded holes on these cars. Hopefully it's just one of those you see.

thank you for being so patient, I did get to upload a picture. It is an automatic, thank you

the hole in question is a very clean threaded hole, that's why I'm concerned.

Someone with a automatic trans will have to answer this one for you.
To me it just looks like manufacturing mount holes that are used in the building process. I don't think anything bolts there on the HHR. Maybe those holes are used if that transmission is in a different model car.
Someone else with a automatic should chime in and give you a definite answer.
