Hello to all
Hello to all
Hi, Philip here from Oklahoma City, OK. Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've been on the site for a couple of weeks now and have been enjoying the post.
I bought a 2006 HHR LT 2.2L on 7-13-12, on a Friday, 96133 miles. I've wanted an HHR since they first came out. When the salesman showed me the remote start I was hooked. It's in great shape, too.
The next day i purchased two new matching tires to replace a couple that were in bad shape. I still had some loud noise coming from the left front that sounded like it was a 4x4 truck. I replaced both front rotors, Powerstop crossed drilled and slotted and used ceramic posi-quiet pads. Still no help with the noise. I then replaced the wheel hub and bearings, certain this would take care of my problem, but it didn't.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do next? I'm hoping it's not in the transmission. I purchased the 36 month 36,000 mile extended warranty but would prefer to cancel it, I have until Saturday.
I also noticed the support beam, behind the bumper, under the hood, is bent. I was told it had never been wrecked. Apparently it has.
Please advise as any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the site Philip. How are your stabalizer links? They have a tendency not to last long.

Is this noise you speak of loud with rotation, or do you only hear it over bumps and stuff?
I think you've pretty much replaced everything that would make the rotational noise(assuming the transaxle is fine)
Was it aligned properly?
engine or tranny mounts rotted?
thats all I got
Thanks for the input
I know I need the stabilizer end links for the clunking sound. That's not it at all. It is a rotation roar. It begins when I take off and continues until I stop. It sounds like it's a 4x4 truck.
I've not driven other HHR's so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'm guessing this isn't a typical noise.
I do all my own work and have a great mechanic friend, as well, to fall back on. He is going to drive it Friday morning.
I thought about the drive axles but he said I would have shaking going on if that were the case.
I'll see what happens. Thank you all for your input and rest assured, I'll be back to pick your brains some more.
Thanks again,
HHRPDC
