Hey all, new HHR fan here.
Became an HHR fan after we traded my wife's '05 Pontiac Sunfire on a used 2008 LT at the local Hyundai used car lot. My wife didn't much care for it, prefering our '08 Suzuki XL-7. I've come to really appreciate my little "Retro Rod" as I call it. Especially the nifty rear storage area.
I'm a hefty guy and I actually fit comfortably inside.

to the site! It's amazing how they fit more than they seem. We also have a Mazda 3. Longer in overall length but the HHR has more rear leg room and rear storage space.Anyway lots of great people here and many ideas to customize your wagon if you so wish to do so!
I may have to do some modding to my Retro Rod. I used to have a Ford Contour when I was a younger (and single) man and I did a few things to that car, like a custom intake and exhaust. Made it a bit quicker, unfortunately the NM State Police were witness to that, lol. I
The AC is fantastic. Gets pretty hot here in far west Texas and while the Suzuki has dual units, the front unit of the HHR does a great job of cooling the interior down. Actually gets too cold at times.
So far, I found that the washer fluid tank leaked and the intake duct is torn. A little JB Weld fixed the washer tank. FWIW, the Sunfire suffered from that affliction as well but at least with the HHR, the washer tank was easy to get at while the Sunfire tank was buried behind the fender between the bumper and wheel well.
As for the intake duct (which I discovered was torn thanks to the washer tank), I figure finding a length of duct roughly the same size will work. I have the connections at each end, just need the hose. I figure, knowing how dealer parts go, the OEM part will cost problably $80.
Being a long haul truck driver, I've seen first hand the dealer markup from Freightliner VS finding the part at an independent shop. My turbo had to be replaced. My boss found it for $1800 VS $2400 at the dealership.
