Hi from Red Wing MN
just picked up a 2006 HHR LT with 178K miles. Bought off Craigslist, picked up in the dark, all kinds of things you shouldn't do when you buy a used car.
When I picked it up, it started right up. we did the paperwork and I came back outside and it wouldn't start...Ended up jumping the terminal under the hood with my son's 2022 Jeep and it started up. I saw a lot of corrosion on the terminal that could have been the problem. Drove home about 55 miles and it ran just fine, Had to do some searching for the window switches, and found the cruise which worked. Once I got home, I looked at the trailer hitch and noticed a chrome bar that locked the hitch together, I didn't get a key.. so I may have to use the fire wrench to get that removed. Expect a lot of questions as I know nothing about these critters other than I like the looks of the body. |

Welcome Jim! A cut off wheel on a die grinder might be a better choice for the trailer hitch lock.
many problems finding information here, just ask . |
Thanks, maybe I can get the 1 7/8 ball off and just put on a 2" which will work for my trailer and leave it on there. it doesn't stick out that far I guess.

Pretty color.
Welcome to the right side. |
Maybe I am getting used to it, or maybe washing it helped, but it isn't so bad now. Still leaning towards adding another color , maybe some black or creme to it..

2006, it could be the butyl patch leaking. Here is the How-to. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...t-night-14263/
|
could be a good possibility! I will have to check it out. Thank you for the suggestion!!

While your investigating have a look at the wire harness boots between the door jambs and front doors, they can allow water in if not seated properly
|
OK Thanks! It does look like it has been parked for a while with all the dust/dirt and grime that accumulated. it took a bit of scrubbing to get most of it off. Not sure if I can do much with the butyl patch since it has hit the high for today of 37 degrees, but at least water won't run in
