Greeting from Canada, just was wondering tie rod ends?? I think you mean sway bar end links. and just for fun try torquing the nuts on the bar ends and the lower control arm bolts first to ensure they are not cause of your clunk.

Klunk? never heard my HHR klunk, in 6 yrs.

But I have heard it burn some rubber. It's got a surprising amount of torque in first off the line. I also love watching it come down the road.

Welcome BTW. I have also gotten some great info here.
