Introduction, possible farewell, and thank you!

Hello all, I purchased my 2006 HHR 2LT last September. Mostly a lurker here but I found the forums extremely helpful in helping me diagnose and repair a couple of small problems, so thanks everyone for that.
My HHR met it's demise on April 17th, 2015 when I was hit by a full size pickup on my way to work. The poor little thing didn't stand a chance but in fact protected me well, as I walked away with only a bruised knee, sore thumb and the hatred for the idiot that hit me. Of course he had a suspended license and the truck wasn't his.
I mostly purchased the HHR as a commuter car for the 60-70 miles I drive a day, and she finished with 146289 miles and was running strong, everything worked like it should, my only hatred for the car being the power window switches.
I haven't decided if I'm going to get another HHR or something else yet, if I do I'll be sure to check in a little quicker this time.
Thanks again for all the information on this site, it has been invaluable.
I'd post pictures if I could figure out how, I'm a noob.

Glad to hear that your injuries were not life threatening. I crashed my 06 HHR and was able to find an 08 to replace her.

Good luck on finding a replacement

Well glad your ok! and was able to walk away from a serious accident.
The HHR is a car that I have come to love myself.
They can be a very fickle machine sometimes, but they also do things sometimes that just amaze me.
Hopefully you may find another HHR that just strikes you in a way, that you just have to have one again.
They really are a great car!
Take care and good luck in what ever you choose :)

Sorry about your HHR. Something to say in favor of getting another, my 2009 HHR, saved my life too. In February of this year I was trying to get out of my driveway past the darn snowbanks. I thought all was clear, I was wrong. "Stella" was hit in the passengers door behind me. It bent the frame, totaled, but it saved me. Only a bump on the knee and a sore spot on my right side. Seems yours saved you too. I horror to think if I was driving a small car. Maybe you should look around and see what is available in your price range for another HHR. Glad you are ok! I looked around and found a 2011 HHR, more bells and whistles than "Stella", this ones name is "JJ"

I am on my 2nd hhr. I really enjoy the car. I am tall and I like that I can get in and out easy. When I have used up this one I will probably try to find another.

Glad you're alright , sad the HHR bit the dust ! Get another one they are neat little rides! I just drove two days 1,300 miles and had a blast ! Roomy, great on gas! And about thirty thumbs up , not bad for an 8 year old ride!

Thanks everybody, car held up very well considering I was traveling 70mph. I like the versatility of the HHR so still waiting to see what the insurance company will pay to see if I can afford a newer one or what.
