Longtime HHR watcher, now HHR owner
Hello All,
I just joined the HHR world! About two years ago I had looked at the HHR, but when it came time to buy a new car, I went with a G6. Hey, at leasts its a GM.
This week we turned in our Equinox smart buy, and were about to go down to one car. I asked the dealer what they had in the used dept for about 250 a month. Initially they said they had a couple of cobalts, then they said they had this HHR.
Needless to say, we bought it. black, 2007, 44,000 miles, LT, 2.4, running boards, spoiler, leather, heated seats, sunroof. I love it!
Only negative is it was a smokers car, so I have that to get rid of. Its been raining here in dallas so I don't have picks yet. I've been following the forums since we got it and already have some ideas for "enhancements"
Current planned projects:
* Yellow painted front callipers
* Yellow/Black roulete painted rear drums
* tow hitch (for bike rack from equinox, and someday a teardrop trailer)
* getting rid of the smoke smell.....
Long way off projects:
* black painted headlights
* yellow "waterfall" around radio/AC controls
* yellow around window controls
* replace door silver strip with yellow
* yakima roof rack (I don't have the factory rails)
I've seen posts on almost all of these so I might PM a few folks for some follow up questions.
I look foward to enjoying my HHR and this forum!.
Thanks,
Bryan Doepken

As far as the smoker smell goes, I'm surprised the dealer didn't treat the car for that before they sold it. I rented a van a few years ago. When they brought it out it had seats in it for 15 people but we needed it set up with only 2 seats and storage space so they took the other seats out for us but at the same time they treated it since it had been smoked in and I complained. I was skeptical they would give me a vehicle that smokey that the smell wouldn't return and we were keeping it for 2 weeks for a long trip. It was perfect. They had a sprayer full of something they sprayed on everything in the vehicle and we never smelled smoke again.
The point of all this is try checking with some of the rental places and see if they have something you can buy or pay them to use in your vehicle. The place I was at was a semi local place called Triangle Rental located here in the SE.
