The New Guy

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi from Tomball,Tx. I recently aquired a 2008 Grey HHR-LS. (Not particularly happy about the way I got it though). It's a 2.2/5-speed car. Learned the hard way yesterday that the spare will not fit the front. (What the heck was Chevy thinking when they did that?)

Also....has anyone ever replaced the gloce box handle on one of these, mine is broken.

Thanks in advance.

from another Texan. You said the spare won't fit the front? I've got almost the exact same car as you. '08 LS 2.2L but mine's an auto and I've got the spare on the front right now

Welcome to the site Alan!

Something's not right with that spare...it should bolt on the front...unless someone put big Brembo brakes on there!

It would not clear the caliper. I later read in the owners manuel they would not fit. Had to put it on the back and the back tire on the front.

Haven't checked my owners manual to see what it says, but I wonder if the diameter of the spare tire is smaller than the standard tires. In which case you wouldn't want different diameter tires on the front and would require putting it on the rear where it wouldn't matter and then taking the rear tire to replace the bad front tire.

Just reread the OM. It says it will not fit "SS" front. I don't know if my late son-in-law made any mods to them. (Knowing him, I would not doubt it)

By the way, there is a Benifit Cruise-In/ Car Show in Stafford TX, for his kids on the 31st of OCT. All proceeds go into a trust for them for college.
