However, personal preference rules, as does limited choice on a vehicle that was discontinued last model year. There were a much higher percentage of manual SS built vs manual 2LT! I still can't understand why they limited the performance of the automatic, but then allow installation of the factory upgrade kit.
Aye, but most of that performance difference was between the boost limit in 1st and 2nd gear, and the lack of an LSD. A quick tune solved that

But I was looking for an auto, as I was having problems with my elbow and felt that would help alleviate the problems. Taking time off from lifting weights didn't have much of an affect, but driving an auto sure seems to. I think I may have been overextending my arm on the 3rd gear shift I have short arms

All that being said, I made a post about finding a turbo upgrade tune for the autos...I guess the low build number is part of why I can't find one lol.

elbow therapy

The standard shift on the 2LT is WAY long and the short shifter kit (TWM) fixed that. I don't know, but was told the stock shift on the SS is not only moved forward (also needed) but also is a bit shorter.

I test drove a local '08 SS manual...it was notchy and way forward, although it was certainly more peppy in stock form than the auto. I may buy another manual as a play toy, but not a daily. I've really been eyeballing the new Z06 vettes as a "shop car", which manual is the only option, or a new 5.0 stang. But I have other items on my agenda first.
