Hello all,

I'm a brand new member, trying to make my first post. Don't really live in Mayberry, but that's what most folks think when they hear NC.

Just got my first HHR. It's a used '06 2LT, 2.4L, stick, Majestic Amethyst beauty with 33k miles. Traded my '06 Tundra for it - I got the HHR and some cash - think I got the better end of the deal!

Presently unemployed, but lookin' hard. Hobby is street rodding (hence my handle) and presently own a '37 Ford coupe and a '40 Ford sedan. Trying to sell the 40 - it's on hotrodhotline.com if anyone interested.

Will be lookin' at these posts mainly for technical advice. I found that "the more you know, the more you find that you don't know". In other words, never too old to learn.

I bought a manual 2007 2LT four months ago. Apparently, only 1.5 % of 2007 2LTs came with the manual. I suspect none were included in a dealer's routine order. They had to be special-ordered. I bet the statistics for 2006 were similar. Short of an SS, the best performance is supplied by the 2.4 with a stick, and mileage is relatively good as well. However, I hated its long stock shift throws!

I suggest you read other threads, particularly those I've been involved with (and check my signature below) regarding useful modifications to make on your vehicle, when you can afford them. I agree with your comment regarding shifter throws. But I can't afford an aftermarket short shifter, at the moment. Did you do any measurements on your TWM shifter, before you installed? (see my other post "Short Shifter Dimensions" in Appearance section.

 

Nope, didn't measure before or after, but love the TWM shifter (after the dealer fixed their installation that left me stranded on the day I picked it up). It sounds like you don't have the sunroof, side air bags, smokers' package, rear spoiler, running boards, step pad (though not sure what the "dealer installed option" is), or multi CD changer. But the leather heated seats are fun!
