Noob in Alaska

Finally took the plunge and bought a new 09 HHR SS Victory Red with the Automatic tranny this past week. It was the only new SS model available in Anchorage and it was at Alaska Sales and Service. I also ordered the Stage I performance upgrade kit which the dealer will install when it arrives sometime next week.

I've had my eye on the HHR SS for about a year now and wanted a performance vehicle that was practical, looked good and got decent gas mileage. I sold off one of our classic cars (64 Corvair) and also my 91 GMC Syclone pickup. Got decent money for both.

Is there anyone else from Alaska on this forum with the HHR SS?

Not in Alaska, I'm in Mass.
We got Seattle's weather this year.
I've been watching Ice Road Truckers though.
What an awesome place to live.

I'm waiting on my Stage kit also.
Don't know how the 5 speed guys do it.
I need both hands to pass when I romp on it and I used to be a carpenter.
The torque steer's crazy.
It should get real interesting with 90 more ft/lbs

Thanks. My wife and I show them in the summer and they are fun to drive around on a warm day (when we have them). The Jeepster is our most unusual classic as it is customized with and Olds 215cid V8, plus it's convertible.

Yes Alaska is a fun place to live...I've been here 20 years now and my wife was born and raised here. I'm originally from the Southeast (NC & Florida) but was assigned here while in the Air Force. I retired in 1992 and decided to stay.

I'm looking forward to the seeing how it performs with the kit. I'm used to my Syclone which was a beast; 0-60 in 4.48 sec and the 1/4 in 13.4 all stock.

It would not surprise me if you had the only tuned HHR SS in Alaska. I love driving such a rare, fast sleeper of a car!

Welcome. Alaska is a beautiful place, and I intend to spend some vacation time there as soon as I can make it work out. You live in Paradise.
