Hello all

I had a question, Not about the HHR but about one of it's disdent relatives. My G/F is in the market for a used car on the relatively cheap and found a deal on a 2002 Z24. My questions are:

1) Is this the same motor that is in the HHRs now?

2) My friend has a 2000 Z24 2.4 that he had problems with the head. Is this a comon problem?

3) I thought there were some design changes somewhere along the way Yes/No

1) no. That motor is the quad 4; the HHR has the ecotec.

2+3) It was a common problem with the quad 4, but I thought the newer ones were improved.

In general, that motor is noisier and less efficient than the ecotec that replaced it, and the cavalier is a very old design so other small cars that age are much nicer(Focus comes to mind as it has low resale value like the Cavalier and might not be much more $$). But, if the price is right and the car is in good overall condition it could be a decent buy.

it is not. the current 2.4 came around in 2006 aka the LE5. The LD9 is what was in the cav.
